Electric mobility in Sri Lanka

EZR-PWER PROJECT SRI LANKA

SRI LANKA Just a year ago, Sri Lanka was struggling with massive shortages after it ran out of foreign currency. With no money to buy fuel, roads were empty, with even public transport at a standstill and power cuts, some of which went on for up to 13 hours a day. But the country's main source of foreign currencies—tourism—is now witnessing a revival. The industry has recorded a 30% jump in revenue from the previous year. Essentials are available, but unaffordable for many.

Things are more expensive than ever before, and prices of food, clothing, and housing are continuing to rise. One area where this has had a huge impact is electricity bills, which have soared by 65% since the subsidy was removed. There are restrictions on the import of fossil fuels, which provides an opportunity for the electrification of public transport by means of local electricity production.

SRI LANKA CURRENT STATUS The PWER.ME foundation has established connections with governmental organisations in Sri Lanka and receives full support for the realisation of PWER.Hubs in Sri Lanka. For this, the PWER.ME Foundation is working with an e-scooter and e-3-wheeler automotive partner in Sri Lanka to develop an infrastructure (PWER.Hubs) for electric vehicles in Sri Lanka.

The goal is to place (on the five main roads from Colombo) at least 80, 20 KWh battery swap stations in the current dealer network. Half of the hubs will be equipped with a solar roof. PWER.ME owns all of the batteries in electric vehicles and rents them out per kW.
